    Course Description

In Chapter 2 of the Equine Lymph System course, students will delve into the basic fundamentals of the anatomy and physiology of the equine lymph system. As students traverse the contents of this chapter, students will develop an appreciation and understand the dependency each system has upon one another and the critical role they both play in common equine disorders. At the completion of this course, students are now prepared to take the next step to acquire hands-on skills with HEAL’s Online Grooming Technique. Along with knowledge and hands-on-skills, students will witness the lymph system in action! It demonstrates how clearing lymphatic pathways, transporting and removing waste can make a powerful impact on how we manage common equine disorders.

“The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know!” Albert Einstein This quote describes me to a tee! From my earliest recollection, I always had a passion for learning! So, pursuing a career in education fits me perfectly! I am passionate about education and learning because it changes lives! In the early 1990s my husband’s horse, Captain Crunch, came down with intermittent lymphangitis. I asked the vet ...What does he have and how do you spell it? It seemed like it came out of the blue with no real explanation. However, there was an explanation! He just didn’t know it! He said sometimes it just happens and just keep him moving! There was no information on how to manage it and definitely no support was available! I could not understand why. At the time, I worked in a large corporation and knew nothing about massage or holistic care. An opportunity came to change careers and I immediately gravitated to massage. Touch always intrigued me and how it impacted our well-being. As I traversed through massage, I realized it was the Captain’s lymphatic system that faltered. This path led me in 2008 to Hannover, Germany where I became the first American and American woman to become an equine lymphedema therapist. There continues to be a lack of skilled equine professionals knowledgeable in equine lymphatics then, and it is now! The result is equine lymphatics are misunderstood and neglected both in fundamentals and hands on skills . It’s an opportunities for those wishing to specialize to capture a niche and untapped market! This prompted me to develop the first equine lymphatic learning portal for equine professionals to acquire both the fundamentals of basic equine lymph system and hands-on-skills to manage various lymphatic congestion both visible and invisible. There are 4 levels of expertise a practitioner can acquirer. The basic professional level will address the majority of the basic lymphatics congestion issues a practitioner will experience in the field. The equine lymphatic therapist can easily combine the hands-on skills into their current modalities. The remaining 3 levels are for those who wish to specialized in managing more complex lymphatic disorders, aid in documenting lymphatic results to acknowledge the value equine lymphatic therapists can provide in this industry. The various levels are designed to make it accessible, doable, and affordable, no matter where you are in the globe! “Believe when it’s beyond reason to believe!” Voltaire Believe…in the Possible! Theresa continues her passion for education in both human and equine wellness matters by attending various seminars and workshops throughout the year. Theresa happily shares these ongoing discoveries with her clients through her newsletter, her training curriculums, and of course, social media. Listed below are Theresa’s credentials: • Bachelor of Arts - Education • Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Body Works as a Massage Therapist • Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage Bodywork - Approved Provider • Certified Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy (Certified Lymphedema Therapist) • Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist • Certified Equine Lymphedema Therapist (Hannover Veterinary School, Hannover, Germany) • Continued Advanced Studies in massage, nutrition, and equine wellness
